This is the boat if you want to enjoy and have fun surfing in every condition. It is very fast, easy to carve, and can be radical at the same time. It works very good with small waves, because it allows you to make big slashes and turns, even without fins. And works well as good with big waves, where the speed of this boat will bring you to new places.

Even though it is a long Hp boat, the lines of the boat allow me to go up very vertical in to the wall of the wave. The width of the front part helps a lot landing the aereals and the radical moves. The soft edges in the front part make easy to move the kayak where ever you want.

It is very easy to ride this boat. From the first day I enjoy riding it, and as much as I ride it more I like it.

Thanks Ride for make this fun machine.

Having only been kayak surfing for a few years, I found myself lost for choice. I tried many hp boats of varying sizes , styles and construction , as well as IC boats .

As I continued to learn and understand more , my enjoyment grew but still lacked the speed of others I paddled with , this is no longer the case as the eclipse flies. With the centre fin out its faster more responsive and at the same time more forgiving than other long Hp boats I’ve paddled . I’ve never been so happy with a boat , from small wave days with no fins up to the big pushy days, it just seems to be comfortable in all of them . The Construction is impressive , even after a few close calls on rocky shores ( not wanting to get out of the surf as the tide comes in) it’s still in one piece .

Big thanks to Chris and Tim for all the advice and a great boat .
Keep up the good work .

Tim provides a great buying experience. He takes time to discuss your requirements, colours etc, doesn’t hurry you and the end product was exactly what I hoped it would be.
It is very easy to outfit – everything required was included and it was a simple process to get the correct fit. Even after six hours surfing I was still comfortable!
The paddle out is really easy and you can get out back quickly, leaving the rest behind!
The eclipse is stable and fast on the wave and is at home on both big and small waves. The boat does lovely flowing turns and is great fun to slash!
I would recommend this boat to anyone, it is perfect for all waves/conditions.
Still makes me smile when I surf it, thanks Ride.

As a complete novice all I can do is echo what Alan says…..fantastic boat!I’ve had a few different surf boats now but this one gives me it all….easy to paddle out..picks up big or small waves with ease…really responsive and especially good with just 2 fins….and from my limited skill point of view extremely easy to roll which obviously is a boost to confidence and therefore can only improve my surfing!…I’d recommend this boat and it’s team to anyone…..so if your in 2 minds you defiantly need to get on board and join the ‘rider evolution !!! Haha…

I’d been surfing plastic general purpose boats for about 20 years when I bought a plastic surf kayak. This was really fast when on a wave but difficult to paddle out (I always felt like I was paddling uphill), very difficult to roll and very tippy when not on a wave. I’ve also paddled some of the new generation short composite surf boats and they felt very much like my plastic surf kayak.

Then I tried an Eclipse. It immediately felt comfortable and I was in control straight away. It was like coming home.

In the 5 days after Tim delivered my Eclipse I paddled surf from 1 foot to 8 foot, quickly and comfortably.

If you’re looking for a boat which is lightning quick (you’ll catch waves that others find impossible), comfortable, easy to paddle out and dead easy to roll, the Eclipse is it (for info I’m about 5’9″ and 11 st but I’m sure the boat would also suit much bigger and smaller paddlers as well).

The build quality of my Eclipse is excellent and Tim was helpful, responsive, informative and patient during the sales process.

I highly recommend the Ride Eclipse and can’t wait to get back on the water in mine.

This boat is truly awesome, its a boat for all conditions. Its easy to roll, paddle out and surf. Super forgiving, but still really high performance! I’ve used this boat to surf 1ft onshore powerless surf, and used it to win 2x european titles in a row!

If I could only have one boat, this would be it!

Perfect for anyone one up to 6’4 and 120kgs, beginner to expert!

Having surfed composite kayaks for over 20 years I can say without hesitation that this is the best all round boat I have owned. All the technical analysis is spelled out in above reviews. All I can say is that this boat still surprises and delights me whenever I go surfing. It is very responsive but also very user friendly (easy to roll, take off etc) . A boat for world champions but also for Baby boomers like myself (65 years of age, 73kg and 5’8”).

Incidentally some tips for other older kayakers for extending their surfing well into old age. Of course buy long boat with fins at lightest spec you can afford. Also Chill Cheater cag (light and strechy), short, small blade paddle (I have Werner Twist at 184cm) and carry energy gels (e.g. SIS isotonic, Blackcurrent not too bad) and don’t try to catch every wave. Keep flexible by perhaps doing Yoga course.
